A low-cost rival to the iPad 2: £150 Super tablet launches on Amazon
Amazon is selling the NATPC T10A RTB Ultimate tablet, a model that comes with the same All Winner Cortex-A8-based processor clocked at 1.2GHz, 1GB RAM, a Mali 400 GPU, Google Play store, Android 4.0.3 Ice Cream Sandwich and a 5-point touch capacitive display as its smaller sibling, the M009S.
The big difference though is the screen size. At 10.1in diagonal and with a 1,024 x 600 pixels resolution, the device has a bigger screen as the iPad 2 with a slightly lower resolution. It also comes with a whopping 16GB on-board storage which can be doubled via a microSD card slot.
Other features include a 3600mAh battery, Wi-Fi, a mini USB port, a USB port, HDMI out and a 1.3-megapixel camera. Amazon says that it weighs less than 400g which is likely to be a mistake while measuring just under 14mm thick.
This is possibly the cheapest large-display Android tablet on the market with 1GB of RAM, the same amount as the iPad 3 (new iPad). Amazon did not quote any battery life but it’s worth noting that the battery capacity on the bigger tablet is 10 per cent less than on the smaller one.
