3Squared develops taste for success

9th October 2012

Custom app developer 3Squared is celebrating impressive performance in the face of a tough economy, reporting a like-for-like sales increase of 25 percent on last year.

The Sheffield-based company specialises in producing mobile and web-based applications that are used within a business or organisation rather than aimed at the general public. It produces apps that integrate with a company’s existing technology systems as well as carrying its branding. High-profile customers include AXA, Castrol/Ford and Unilever.

3Squared, Director, Tim Jones said the sales rise showed that innovative products can thrive even when businesses are watching their bank balances: “Many of our clients say they want to spend smarter rather than simply slash outgoings recklessly. Because we custom-produce applications, clients get exactly what they need for their money rather than paying for unwanted features with something more generic.”

The rest of 2012 looks to bring more good news for 3Squared thanks to a new strategy of teaming up with existing tech firms that have made already their name in a specific industry. For example, 3Squared is currently working on its first joint project with rail tech giant Interfleet. The two companies have produced a custom app that combines live timetable data with GPS information to make sure train drivers not only reduce delays, but avoid wasting fuel by arriving into stations too early.

3Squared is also well positioned for continued growth through an upcoming marketing campaign that will target medium and large enterprises that currently take care of their technology systems in-house but could benefit from outsourcing.
