3Squared welcomes three new starters
3Squared are delighted to have taken on three new starters in the last month, further expanding the development teams. All three join us on their placement year, continuing 3Squared’s history of employing students from the local universities.
We caught up with each of them to find out how they are settling in and what they are looking forward to.
First to join us was Simon Rose, who is from Sheffield and is studying Games Software Development at Sheffield Hallam University. Simon joins the .NET team, where he will be helping to create state of the art web applications and websites.
We asked Simon what he was most looking forward to in the coming year. “While at 3Squared, I will hopefully be developing my skills, but I am particularly looking forward to contributing to real world projects” said Simon. “And I suppose the free snacks will help!”
Simon is a keen a sportsman and plays football several times per week as well as following his team Arsenal.
Lucy Child started the following week and also joins us from Hallam. She is originally from County Durham but moved South (!) to study Games Software Development. Like Simon, she is also joining the .NET team.
She is looking forward to working on a dedicated team and gaining real project experience. “I can’t wait to start working on real projects that actually matter, rather than just to get grades.”
Lucy has a vary varied list of hobbies including keeping racing dogs, running triathlons and she is also a grade 8 clarinettist and occasional gamer!
Finally, we have Ben Walker, who is from nearby Chesterfield and studies at Manchester Metropolitan University. Ben is studying Computing and has joined 3Squared’s ever-increasing Android team and is looking forward to broadening his knowledge of Android development and programming in general.
In his spare time, Ben enjoys coding, listening to podcasts and playing video games.
All at 3Squared would like to wish Simon, Lucy and Ben the best of luck for the forthcoming year.
